There are so many decisions to make, so many websites to visit, and so many people to talk to when planning a wedding. Below are some questions I frequently receive to help you get to know me and my style a little better.

What makes you unique?

Experience makes a difference! I’ve had the pleasure of documenting over 600 unique love stories (intimate celebrations to 350-person events). I’ll never say I’ve seen it all…but I’ve seen A LOT through the years and all these experiences have helped me prepare for any situation that may pop up on your wedding day.

As a State College native, I know all the ins and outs of the area’s popular (and lesser known) wedding venues, the best spots for photos, and can provide insider tips, inspiration, and help building a perfect day-of timeline.

I believe my fine arts photography background and technical knowledge also bring a unique perspective to the way I document weddings.

What’s it like to work with you?

A beautiful wedding collection begins long before a picture is taken. I want to understand your story and get to know you, so I capture all the personal details! I’m flexible, patient, and kind. I have a relaxed style behind the camera but am also super organized and detail-oriented.

And while I bring a blend of skills and styles to my work, I always approach every wedding with the same commitment to quality and professionalism. I work hard. I pay attention. I catch moments, details, and interactions as they happen. I’m looking for those times when you stop thinking about being photographed and are really in the moment. I’m a photographer, a wedding planner, a storyteller, and hope to be a fun yet calming presence during your special day. Being photographed shouldn’t feel like a process to endure—it should be an experience to enjoy!

What about “first look” photos?

Love ‘em! First look photos are some of my favorites. It’s a chance to see each other privately before the ceremony (often followed by family and bridal party group shots). Nearly all my clients opt to do this for a number of reasons.

Here are a few benefits I see:

  • Tame the nerves: get the wedding jitters out by spending a few minutes alone together—it’s a real moment with real emotions made even more special since you won’t have hundreds of eyes watching. Don’t worry, nothing will steal the thunder from that emotional walk down the aisle!
  • Timing and flexibility: provides freedom and time to take photos before the ceremony (and in multiple locations) so you can enjoy more quality time with your guests (and the bar you paid for!)
  • Fresh faced: your hair and makeup will never look as good as it does then—your bouquet won’t be wilted, you won’t be mussed from all the post-ceremony bear hugs.

What’s the benefit of having two photographers?

Having two photographers allows me to essentially be in two places at once—so we don’t miss a moment. This also provides you with additional images and perspectives that capture more of those amazing natural, in-between moments that we all love. I’m thankful to work with two very talented photographers who share my aesthetic, vision, and work ethic, while also bringing their own unique style to their photos.

What will it cost?

Weddings are expensive but they don’t have to break the bank. I believe in fair pricing and freedom with images. You’ll receive copyright release for your fully-edited collection of digital files, so you can print and do with them as you please. After all, you were the inspiration for the images, so you should get to keep them!

How much is the deposit?

A 30% deposit and signed contract reserves your date. The remaining balance is due 10 days before your wedding.

How early do I have to book?

Booking your photographer should be the second thing on your wedding checklist, so 9-12 months in advance, though I can sometimes accommodate last-minute requests too.

When will I get my photos?

I’ll post a blog or Facebook preview gallery (30-40 photos) within a week or two of your wedding, featuring some of my favorite images. After that, I go through an extensive editing process and aim to provide you with a complete private online gallery within 4-8 weeks of your wedding (times may vary slightly during the busy summer/fall seasons, but I’ll keep you posted!).

Do I really need an engagement shoot?

No surprise, but I’m a big believer in the value of an engagement session. Aside from this being a great opportunity to capture a very special time in your lives, it’s also a perfect way for us get to know each other better and for you to feel more relaxed in front of the camera. This is a fun, casual shoot (1-2 hours) and you can use these images for save the dates, engagement announcements, websites, reception centerpieces and guest books—let’s get creative!
